🌟 Scholarships That Transform Lives

This year alone, AGS awarded $42,750 in scholarships to 37 outstanding students at California community colleges. These awards celebrate academic excellence and fuel student dreams, many of whom are the first in their families to attend college.

At our annual Spring Convention in April 2025—attended by nearly 250 students from 24 AGS chapters—members participate in workshops, service idea exchanges, and leadership training. It’s more than an event; it’s a launchpad for changemakers.

Students don’t just receive scholarships—they build lifelong skills, connect with a statewide community, and take part in meaningful service. AGS helps students become the best version of themselves—and the leaders our communities need.

A unique and significant part of Alpha Gamma Sigma outreach involves supporting students within the carceral system through our chapters established at Central California Women's Facility (Phi Iota Rho chapter) and Valley State Prison (Sigma Delta Kappa chapter). These chapters were founded through Merced College's Rising Scholars program, which provides incarcerated individuals the opportunity to pursue higher education.  The members of these Alpha Gamma Sigma chapters work to maintain academic excellence, develop leadership skills, and organize community service projects.

Past service projects organized by incarcerated members of AGS have benefitted foster youth, food banks, domestic violence programs, and homeless shelters. By supporting our organization, donors help us offer scholarships to incarcerated students, directly contributing to transformative educational journeys and empowering individuals to build brighter futures against all odds.
